Things have went pretty well up in 219 during the past few weeks, and tons of progress has been made.
First off, the roof is completed, so all should be well there. It was a tough one, as the weather didn’t want to entirely go along with it, but in the end, we just sneaked it in under the wire. So far so good, there aren’t any leaks!
A couple of weekends ago Tom and Guse came over to help with a little more boarding up project. This time we were tackling the front of the building - the patio wall. This “wall has always just been screen, and with the roof getting taken care of, and the rest of the windows done up, I figured this would be a perfect time to take care of the last bit, and really get it sealed up. I had concocted a plan to just cover it with a stud wall and particle board, and cut a hole in for a door somehow, to be made from the particle board. But then Tom asked a question - Hey Stoli, you think these doors could fit over there? I looked at it and thought, who knows, it may be worth a shot. Well that pretty much turned out to be the best frickin idea ever, as it fit just perfectly and really made the whole thing come together nicely. In fact it really ended up looking pretty good. From the basic concept of a particle board wall with a port hole cut in it to get out to the patio, to a wall with a nice looking set of French Doors in it…. quite a difference. So when the wall was all finished up, Tom started in on cleaning up all the random crap that had accumulated on the patio from before I was ever around, all up until now. So we organized, cleaned, threw out, and generally got everything picked up so that it was pretty dang sweet. A nice little motivation point.

Then this last Sunday we took some time and cleaned up the tool room/workshop a bit. Got a bunch of stuff cleared out of there, and have pretty much made a nice room for just about anything. And what we do have in mind is some weekend night poker action. Why? Well, why not I guess. Just a fun little event, with a little friendly wagering. In a crappy little room. With a crappy little heater. Could be the time of our lives.
So we’ve gotten some work done, and made some progress. Now let’s hope I can find a real renter for the ex-Mexi shop. That’s what I need now. And some good cards this Friday at the first poker night.
